Introduction

The SEND Compass provides SEND advisory, guidance and consultation for families, young people, schools and professionals navigating complex systems and everyday challenges.

We understand that supporting a child or young person with SEND can feel overwhelming, unclear and at times isolating. Our role is to provide calm, practical and child-centred guidance, helping you make sense of needs, options and next steps.

We work collaboratively to ensure support is needs-led, realistic and focused on what works in everyday life — not just theory.

At The SEND Compass, we believe that with the right understanding and support, families and professionals can feel more confident in making informed decisions.

About Us

The SEND Compass was created to provide clear, ethical and compassionate SEND support for families and professionals navigating complex systems.

We recognise that many families feel unheard, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start. Our work focuses on bringing clarity, reducing stress, and supporting informed decision-making.

We combine:

  • Lived understanding
  • Practical experience
  • A collaborative approach

We do not believe in “fixing” children.

We believe in understanding needs, reducing barriers, and supporting each child to thrive.

Purpose

To provide practical, compassionate, and informed SEND advisory support that bridges the gap between families, schools, and professionals.

Core values:

  • Practical over jargon
  • Collaborative, not confrontational
  • Strengths-based, not deficit-focused
  • Trauma-informed and child-centred
  • Lived experience + professional insight

Expertise

With over 30 years of experience in teaching and SEND, our team understands the realities of supporting children and young people.

We bring experience in leadership, SENCO support, safeguarding and mentoring, alongside BA (Hons) and PGCE qualifications, to provide guidance that is both professional and practical.

Mission & Values

To provide accessible, child-centred SEND guidance that empowers families and professionals to make informed decisions and support young people effectively.
